Finding time to read...

Over the weekend I managed to find some time to get my teeth into this book "The time traveller's wife" and now of course I'm finding it hard to put it down. I took Caitlin and her friend to the beach on Sunday afternoon and after a quick dip to cool me down I settled into reading while the girls played in the water and built sandcastles. I got a good chunk of it read and now I'm keen to see the film. I think it's always good to read the book before you see the film, as sometimes the film-makers get it right and sometimes they don't or leave bits out that change the story too much. Has anyone seen the film of this book? Was it as good as the book?

A sneaky peek of another project I worked on over the weekend using some yummy blues and greens. I have one more to make then I shall reveal all. I also managed to finish hand quilting my quilt and now have the binding ready to put on. The next couple of days are going to be busy in our house as tomorrow we have to lift up our old carpet ready for the new carpet to be laid on Thursday. Can't wait to have soft spongy carpet with no worn holes!

And in case you're wondering our baby quail died over the weekend :( I had gotten rather attached to it in the short time we were its surrogate family. We're not sure why it died, maybe the shock of what it had been through or an internal injury from the cat. It got lots of love in its last few hours of life though.

It is an awesome book, but I was disappointed with the movie. However, that is often the case with me. I rarely enjoy a movie after reading the book.

But do see it, it isn't completely rubbish!!

Love the fabrics in your new project :)

The film wasn't brilliant, but watchable. I have to say I liked it a lot more than my husband who hasn't read the book. He spent most of the film asking me what was going on!

I love this book! I didn't see the film because I thought It could never be as good as the book!!
A word of warning - if you love this book as much as me you'll probably want to read Neffenegger's next book (Her Fearful Symmetry) DON'T !! just keep rereading The Timetraveller's Wife!!

I always try to read a book before seeing the film because I don't like having images of the film in my head when I read. Loved the book - the film was ok but I have to agree that it is a bit confusing if you haven't read it!

I did think the movie was entertaining but no where as excellent as the book. I'm glad that we saw it on cable vs. paying for it at the movie theater.

I'm going to echo Gill's word of warning about Neffenegger's other book ... it really isn't that good at all.

i've read the book before and after watching the movie. and recently i've watched the movie again.
everything relating to time travelling tends to confuse me, so it was easier for me to understand the book the second time around. i usually don't like the movie as much as the book, but this one i think it's quite close to the book and i like the actors, the colours, rythm, etc., so i don't think you'll be disappointed.
i did cry a lot... but that's just me.
so i've read the book twice and watched the movie also twice, and i always cry... silly me!
