Works in progress...

Finished 8 more blocks of this quilt today. It's so fun to sew and I love scrappy quilts!

I'm using recycled paper to sew the strips onto. This paper is from the girls old drawing pads.

I've pulled these fabrics together for a future quilt too today. I want to make a feature of the dutch print and decided that the top 4 left fabrics which are from South Africa go with the blue and white colour combo in the print. I then added some batiks from Bali. Not too sure of a quilt pattern yet but I like that the fabrics are all traditional fabrics from their country of origin. Let me know what you think??

love your stringquilts, they are coming along great! Love all the batiks together too but not sure about the dutch fabrics tying in... If I knew a pattern I might see it a bit better... Admittedly, they are hard to match to something unless you have other dutch fabrics! Maybe they are best on their own in something like an apron or a pegholder bag or panholders or something?

Your string quilt is looking great! I like scrappy quilts, too, so I think I mix of blues is great! The last time I made a blue quilt (with some white) I really went for a mix of blues (from dark to light, bright to dull, grayed to clear, etc.). It gives the quilt some sparkle! Have fun with those blues!

I'm curious what you'll come up with for the Dutch fabric..

Very pretty! I especially like the white strip since it gives the eye a place to rest. The Dutch fabric is adorable! My hubby's background is Dutch. :)

Strings look great! How big are those blocks? I had been saving strips for one, but, just cut them all up for the postage stamp quilt along :)

Your string blocks are so pretty. Really like the colors along with brown and black, too.

I'm no help with ideas for the blue and white fabrics but am interested to see what becomes of them.

LOVE the stringers! I can't wait to see more of them. I'll get around to mine one of these days. The blue quilt will be lovely, I'm sure, but I'm the last person to give fabric advice! lol
